Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Lakewood, CO

All Things Dentistry
Dr. Carole has heard many things in her 26 years of dental office, which means you can be completely honest with her when it comes to your questions regarding dentistry. Below, she’s answered a few of the most common questions she’s heard for your convenience, so feel free to give them a read to learn more!
Do I need to visit the dentist regularly?
We recommend visiting our dental office at least once every six months to remove plaque and tartar from teeth as well as confirm no underlying issues are present in your mouth. While most patients will only need to visit twice a year, those with gum disease may need to visit more frequently (or every three to four months).
Can I wait to restore my damaged tooth?
While Dr. Carole never rushes dental treatments on patients or dismisses their concerns, we often recommend against waiting for a long period of time to have a restorative treatment like a dental filling or crown completed. This is because once teeth are damaged, they can easily worsen over time. By getting treatment completed sooner, you lower the risk of having to deal with major dental expenses later.
Should I get my metal fillings replaced with tooth-colored ones?
The only reason you should be getting a metal filling replaced is when it becomes very old and is no longer protecting your tooth the way it should be. If this is the case, we will recommend a tooth-colored filling (assuming that you don’t need a dental crown).
Will my dental implant look natural?
Our dental office works directly with a dental lab down the street to create all of our restorations, including those designed to attach to dental implants. We take many steps to ensure your future restoration is custom-shaded to match existing teeth exactly.
How can you enhance my smile?
Our dental office has multiple cosmetic solutions to invigorate your smile from top to bottom. One popular option is veneers thanks to their incredible versatility and esthetics. However, more affordable options like direct bonding and teeth whitening can be appropriate for your needs.
Are dental implant treatments safe?
When placed by a trained professional, which Dr. Carole partners with to ensure the most comprehensive treatment possible, you can expect your dental implant treatment to be incredibly safe. Just make sure to practice daily oral care, maintain routine dental checkups, and never use your dental implants to perform tasks that should be completed with a tool!
Do you see children?
Yes! We’re happy to see very young patients as well as family members who are quite old. As soon as your child is two years old, we’d love to get to know their specific needs and help them achieve positive oral health with their first dental appointment. If you have a newborn child or infant, please let us know and we’ll be happy to educate you on how best to care for your child’s teeth as well as give you some special toothbrushes made specifically for infants and toddlers. We’re here to guide you through a lifetime of healthy smiles.
